A hotel and a restaurant full of stars. But, at the end of the day, those ones were eclipsed by the shine of the stars sitting at the table.
Hotel Maria Cristina, 5 stars. Martín Berasategi Restaurant, 3 Michelin stars. It is certainly true that recognitions and stars are important to rate the quality of a service. However, for us, as a destination wedding photographer, the kind of stars that make my work shine is a different one.
There is no need to include actors like George Clooney or Julia Roberts in our frames. Generally speaking, it is enough for us if the protagonists of our stories are a funny couple willing to have fun with their friends. The scenario and the outfit help, of course, but the people are, above all, the most important thing.
This was Nastacia’s and Chris’ case, a couple that crossed the ocean from San Francisco to San Sebastian in order to celebrate his bond with their friends and closest family. Why? Just because some foodies are so passionate that are able to go across the world to taste some recipes that, otherwise, they couldn’t savor. So, taking into account the number of Michelin stars that sum up the restaurants of San Sebastian and its surroundings, they were likely to choose our city as they desired destination.
The couple started calmly to get ready at the María Cristina Hotel: some food, coffee, make up, hairdressing and final touches to the dresses with the help of relatives and friends. While Nastacia finished dressing, Chris was talking with their guests at the cafe until they left towards Martín Berasategi restaurant.
After a brief ceremony officiated at the venue by one of Chris’ best friends, we made a quick portrait photoshoot in the garden of the restaurant. Afterwards, the event passed between a wide collection of delicious dishes sprinkled by some toasts that made laughs and tears spring to the guests’ and newlyweds’ faces.
At the end of the day, the stars of the kitchen were somehow eclipsed by the shine of the stars that were sitting at the tables.
Nastacia and Chris, thank you very much for your sense of humor and your trust in our work and many thanks as well to the wedding planner, Laura Satué, who arranged everything as well as always.
We wish you all the best!
